KS 03 Yoder
Kevin Yoder (R) represents Kansas’s 3rd congressional district where over 34,000 individuals receive their health care coverage through Obamacare (ACA). Had Kansas opted for Medicaid expansion, another 19,000 would be covered, including 9,000 children. Yet he voted 16 out of 16 times for ACA repeal to take away their health care. Maybe he forgot 44,000 of them are eligible voters. Let’s remind him by spelling it out for him – and painting him a picture.
KS-03 encompasses Wyandotte and Johnson counties and includes Kansas City and the surrounding suburbs of Overland Park, Lenexa, Shawnee, and Olathe.
In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton won this district by 1.2%. In the House race, Yoder beat his opponent by 37,000 votes, helped in large part by some 20,000 Hillary voters crossing over.
A switch of 18,500 votes (half of 37,000) will defeat Yoder in 2018. We can mobilize 64,000 Health Votes to defeat him.
- 20,000 crossover Hillary votes
- 34,000 ACA enrolled votes
- 10,000 Medicaid Expansion votes
- Total Health Vote: 64,000
With 64,000 Health Votes versus the 18.500 needed to defeat him, Yoder’s Vulnerability Ratio is 3.5 (highly vulnerable).

Cut-and-paste suggested letter (personalizing helps):
Dear Honorable Representative Yoder:
Congratulations on your recent election victory by a margin of 37,000 votes.
I am writing to you out of concern about your position on the Affordable Care Act.
If you vote to repeal the ACA, you will be jeopardizing the health and finances of over 53,000 of your constituents – 9,000 of them children.
If compassion for their lives doesn’t sway you, consider the fact that 44,000 of these individuals are eligible voters. Combined with the 20,000 Hillary voters who crossed over to vote for you – and who strongly support Obamacare – 64,000 Health Votes may be mobilized against you, come 2018.
We hope you will do the right thing by your constituents and be a voice for their ongoing health and financial well-being by voting against ACA repeal.
Sincerely,
(Your name here)
